A talented group of Australian and American players have hit the courts in Benalla for an Australia Day Tournament for players with an intellectual disability.
The Australian team, featuring Kelly Wren, Mitchell James, Zvi Schwitzer and Ben Hadden, made it a clean sweep winning all singles and mixed doubles matches in front of more than 80 spectators at Benalla Lawn Tennis Club.
‘‘It was pleasing the way Benalla families hosted the event and were so pleased to billet the players and families, and the way that Benalla — particularly the tennis community — embraced it,’’ said Ausrapid chief executive Robyn Smith.
‘‘The players thoroughly enjoyed it; it really was a celebration of tennis.’’
