The second annual City of Salisbury Tennis International will take place at the Salisbury Recreation Precinct from 16 to 23 February 2014.

The event looks set to attract a strong field of Australian and international players including a crop of up-and-coming tennis stars to compete for $15,000 prize money and valuable world ranking points.

“Now entering its second year, the City of Salisbury Tennis International is a part of the 2014 Australian Pro Tour and provides an opportunity for players to earn crucial world ranking points,” said Breanna Hassam, City of Salisbury Tennis International Tournament Director.

“This event also provides the general public with a fantastic opportunity to watch international quality tennis close to home.

Mayor Gillian Aldridge is pleased to welcome the athletes to the City of Salisbury.

“This is the second tournament we’ve hosted of this level, with the first being in September 2012. The tournament is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our local area on an international stage and we look forward to welcoming the players and tournament staff to the City of Salisbury. I strongly encourage everyone to come down and support the event during the week.”

On Sunday 23 February, the tournament will host an MLC Tennis Hot Shots Community Play Gala Day from 10:00 am.

In an exciting addition to the 2014 event, children are invited to come and play MLC Tennis Hot Shots and try their hand at the Speed Serve as part of the free MLC Tennis Hot Shots Community Play Gala Day. Families are encouraged to register at www.mlctennishotshots.eventbrite.com.au.

Qualifying will start on Sunday 16 February with main draw matches commencing on Tuesday 18 February. Entry to the tournament is free with matches commencing at 10:00am daily and the singles final commencing on Sunday 23 February at 12:00 pm.
