Bernard Tomic has recorded an impressive straight-sets victory over No.3 seed Vasek Pospisil to reach the semifinals of the Claro Open Colombia in Bogota.

Tomic beat the reigning Wimbledon doubles champion 6-4 6-4 in just 70 minutes, his third consecutive straight-sets win in the Colombian capital.

The victory sets up a semifinal with Dominican Victor Estrella Burgos, who upset top seed Richard Gasquet in straight sets.

Tomic, a wildcard into the ATP 250 event, slammed eight aces and won 82 per cent of points on his first serve, and saved the one and only break point he faced.

It is the first time in his career that Tomic has reached a tour-level semifinal outside of Australia.

In further good news for Australia, Chris Guccione and Sam Groth have combined to reach the semifinals of the doubles event in Bogota, defeating Thai brothers Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana 7-6(5) 7-5.

Having won the doubles title in Newport with Lleyton Hewitt last week, it took Guccione’s winning streak to six matches.
