A 6-4 6-3 win for Aussie junior Omar Jasika over third-seeded American Jared Donaldson propels the 17-year-old into the quarterfinals where he will face seventh seed Duckhee Lee.
Marin Cilic finds himself in the semifinals of a major for the first time since Australian Open 2010. Fourteenth-seeded Cilic will take on either Roger Federer or Gael Monfils for a spot in the final.
Cilic’s gain is Tomas Berdych’s loss, the sixth-seeded Czech held a 5-3 record over Cilic before this match and would have fancied his chances to make it 6-3.
Martina Hingis and Flavia Pennetta’s golden run continues, after knocking out third seeds Cara Black and Sania Mirza, they’ll play fourth-seeded Russian duo Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova for the title.
Tomas Berdych is hoping to work with former Murray-mentor Ivan Lendl.
