Australia’s girls have produced stunning performances to bring home titles at recent ITF junior events around the globe.
Destanee Aiava clinched the title at the Grade 2 Canadian World Ranking Event Montreal, a hardcourt event played at the same stadium that hosts the annual ATP/WTA Montreal Masters.
Aiava, 14, beat fellow Australian Kimberly Birrell 7-6(3) 6-2 in the final, capping a magnificent week in which she ousted top seed and junior world No.6 Iryna Shymanovich of Belarus in the quarterfinals.
Birrell has earlier breezed through to the final with four straight-sets wins against quality opposition.
Meanwhile, Seone Mendez also won a Grade 2 title; her victory came on clay at the Serbia Junior Open Novi Sad.
The 15-year-old did not drop a set on the way to the second – and biggest – ITF junior title of her career.
