Luke Saville has been dealt an unfortunate blow, forced to withdraw from the Australian Open 2015 Play-off with a hamstring injury.
Saville, the top seed in the event, was due to face fifth seed and defending champion Jordan Thompson in the semifinals on Friday.
Thompson will advance to the final of the Play-off via walkover and will meet the winner of the match between No.2 seed John-Patrick Smith and fourth seed Ben Mitchell.
Meanwhile, women’s quarterfinal action continues at Melbourne Park, with Arina Rodionova taking on Olivia Tjandramulia.

Earlier on Thursday, top seed Olivia Rogowska and No.3 seed Daria Gavrilova set up a last four clash after winning their respective quarterfinals in straight sets.
