Ajla Tomljanovic has won through to the semifinals of the PTT Pattaya Open in Thailand with a straight-sets victory over Russia’s Evgeniya Rodina.

The Brisbane-based Tomljanovic, born in Croatia but in the process of formalising Australian citizenship, won 7-6(4) 6-2.

Tomljanovic slammed nine aces throughout the one hour, 24 minute victory to reach the last four at the WTA International-level event.

She will next face seventh seed Monica Puig, the only seed remaining in the event.

Puig beat Japan’s Misaki Doi 6-4 6-2 to reach the semis.

The other semifinal will be contested between former world No.5 Daniela Hantuchova and New Zealand’s Marina Erakovic.
