Australian James Duckworth has qualified for the Miami Open with a straight-sets win in the final round of qualifying on Tuesday in Florida.

Compatriot Omar Jasika was unable to join him; the 17-year-old wildcard lost in three sets to Serbia’s Filip Krajinovic.

Duckworth, the world No.97, overcame qualifying sixth seed Alejandro Gonzalez 6-2 7-6(5) in one and a half hours to book his place in the 96-player main draw.

His first-round opponent will be Bosnia’s Damir Dzumhur.

His inclusion in the draw bolsters the Aussie men’s representation to six.

There are also three Aussie women remaining in the WTA main draw after the fourth, Ajla Tomljanovic, fell in her opening match to Japan’s Kurumi Nara.

Taking to the Crandon Park hard courts on Wednesday will be Aussies Thanasi Kokkinakis, Marinko Matosevic, Daria Gavrilova and Duckworth.
