A five-strong troupe of Aussie men will battle it out on the grasscourts of Roehampton in a bid to join their illustrious compatriots in the main draw at Wimbledon.
Luke Saville, Ben Mitchell, John-Patrick Smith, Jason Kubler and John Millman are all entered in the men’s qualifying draw; all will be in action on Monday.
Millman heads the group as the 15th seed, and will face Swede Christian Lindell in his first match.
Kubler – making a rare appearance off clay – takes on Rui Machado of Portugal, Smith will tackle Belgian Maxime Authom, and Mitchell lines up against Remi Boutillier of France.
In the top half of the draw, Saville will play Chile’s Nicolas Jarry.
The Aussie quintet will this week attempt to join seeds Bernard Tomic and Nick Kyrgios, direct entrants Sam Groth, Thanasi Kokkinakis, James Duckworth and Marinko Matosevic, and wildcards Lleyton Hewitt and Matt Ebden in the main draw.
