No.14 seed Dominic Thiem proved too strong for Sam Groth in ousting the Aussie from the second round of the Miami Open on Friday.
Thiem, one of the in-form players on the ATP World Tour this year, recorded a 7-5 6-2 win to advance to the last 32.
There he will meet Japanese qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka, who stunned 21st seed Feliciano Lopez in straight sets.
Nick Kyrgios and John Millman are the last remaining Aussies in the draw in Miami; they will play their second-round matches on Saturday (Florida time).
