Australian young guns Chris O’Connell and Max Purcell have both enjoyed significant rises in the latest release of the ATP rankings.
O’Connell rose 28 spots to a career-high ranking of 240th after his victory in the recent Blacktown Pro Tour final.
In that decider he beat Purcell, who also jumped 28 places to hit a career-best ranking of No.324.
Purcell, just 18, became the second-youngest Challenger champion in 16 years when he won the title in Gimcheon, Korea in July.
He has improved his ranking by more than 1,000 places in 2016.
The 22-year-old O’Connell’s victory in Blacktown was his fifth ITF Futures title of 2016 and pushed him into 12th place in the Australian rankings.
