Tennis Tasmania appoints new CEO
Tennis Australia has appointed Darren Sturgess to take on the role of Tennis Tasmania Chief Executive Officer and Hobart International Tournament Director.

Tennis Australia Tournament Services Manager and Asia-Pacific Wildcard Play-off Tournament Director Darren Sturgess is set to take on the role of Tennis Tasmania Chief Executive Officer and Hobart International Tournament Director.
Mr Sturgess was officially appointed this month and will attend the Hobart International this week to shadow outgoing CEO and Tournament Director Mark Handley.
Tennis Tasmania President Philip Bowden is excited for the future of tennis in Tasmania under Darren Sturgess who has a long history in tournament management with Tennis Australia, Tennis WA and the Lawn Tennis Association in England
“Darren is a highly experienced and respected member of the tennis community. We are delighted to have him join us in the dual role of CEO and Tournament Director,” Mr Bowden said.
Mr Sturgess is looking forward to the new role and move to Tasmania.
“I am excited to be joining the team at Tennis Tasmania and I look forward to continuing the great work they’re doing to grow the sport in Tasmania,” Mr Sturgess said.
Darren will relocate, from Melbourne to Tasmania to start in the role in February while outgoing CEO Mark Handley will be moving to Queensland to begin his new role with Tennis Queensland as Head of Participation.
