Ajla Tomljanovic will make her return to tennis at this week’s WTA event in Acapulco after 13 months on the sidelines.
The Croatian-born Aussie last played a match in a first-round loss at Australian Open 2016, before undergoing shoulder surgery in March.
Currently unranked, she is using a protected ranking to enter the draw.
She opens against sixth seed Eugenie Bouchard in what will be their first meeting.
Tomljanovic reached a career-high ranking of No.47 in February 2015 and recorded her best Grand Slam result with a fourth-round run at Roland Garros in 2014.
