Sam Stosur is the fourth best-performed player on clay in the world.
That’s according to WTA Insider following the release of its 2017 Claycourt Power Rankings.
The claycourt power rankings are “based on an empirical formula that isolates a player’s success rate on clay,” WTA Insider explained.
Stosur is ranked fourth, behind No.1 Garbine Muguruza, second-ranked Simona Halep, and Maria Sharapova, who is ranked No.3 despite being inactive for 15 months.
Stosur’s ranking – much higher than her WTA mark of No.18 – is built largely on her impressive claycourt season in 2016.
In her only claycourt result of 2017, Stosur advanced to the third round in Charleston.
