Peers, Kontinen into US Open semifinals
John Peers has now reached the semifinals at three of four Grand Slam tournaments in 2017 after he and partner Henri Kontinen beat John-Patrick Smith and Nicholas Monroe on Tuesday.

Australian top seed John Peers and his Finnish partner Henri Kontinen have advanced to the US Open doubles semifinals in New York.
Hoping to add to their Australian Open 2017 crown, Peers and Kontinen outclassed Queenslander John-Patrick Smith and American Nicholas Monroe 6-3 6-4 in the quarterfinals at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday.
In the semifinals, Peers and Kontinen will take on 12th seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau for a place in the title match.

It will be the third major semifinal of the year for Peers, who also reached the final four at Wimbledon in a promising sign ahead of Australia’s Davis Cup showdown with Belgium next week.
In another great result for Australia, Anastasia Rodionova is through to the semifinals of the mixed doubles event.
She and Austrian partner Oliver Marach overcame No.8 seeds Lucie Hradecka and Marcin Matkowski 5-7 6-4 [10-8] in Tuesday’s quarterfinals.
Next they’ll face third seeds Hao-Ching Chan and Michael Venus.
