Nick Kyrgios has made a winning start in his China Open debut, claiming a comprehensive 6-1 6-2 first round victory.

The No.8 seed was clinical in a 55-minute dismissal of world No.60-ranked Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili.

Kyrgios dominated the first set, serving seven aces and attacking on return at every chance.

The Georgian was rattled, which showed when he missed a simple overhead at 30-all in the seventh game. It gifted Kyrgios a set point, which he clinched with a cross-court backhand winner.

Games went on serve early in the second, before Kyrgios broke in the fifth game. The world No.19 did not surrender the advantage, winning the final five games to clinch a comfortable win.

Kyrgios plays world No.27-ranked German Mischa Zverev in the second round.
