Priscilla Hon, Lizette Cabrera and Jaimee Fourlis are the last Australian players left in the US Open qualifying event after three of their compatriots were eliminated.
Ellen Perez, Zoe Hives and Akira Santillan will miss out on the main draw next week after the trio fell in the penultimate qualifying round at Flushing Meadows on Thursday.
Perez was beaten by Romanian Ana Bogdan 6-4 7-6(6) while Hives fell to American Caroline Dolehide 6-1 7-6(2).
Santillan slogged it out with Mario Vilella Martinez before the Spaniard eventually prevailed 6-7(6) 6-4 6-2.
Santillan was the last Australian man standing after James Duckworth and John-Patrick Smith exited in the previous round.
Hon, Cabrera and Fourlis — all striving to qualify for a Grand Slam main draw for the first time in their careers — have the chance to increase the Australian contingent at this year’s Open.
On Friday, Hon faces Czech Denisa Allertova, Cabrera takes on No.1 seed Elena Rybakina and Fourlis tackles Slovak Jana Cepelova.
