The leaders of women’s sport in NSW have been recognised at the NSW Government’s annual Her Sport Her Way Awards.
Minister for Sport Geoff Lee congratulated the award recipients and said they were breaking down barriers for women’s sport in NSW.
“Women’s sport in NSW continues to grow thanks to the vision, leadership and determination of people like these,” Mr Lee said.
“Through their tireless efforts there are more opportunities for women and girls to participate in sport in NSW.”
Tennis NSW is honoured to be awarded runner up in the #HerSportHerWay Outstanding Organisation Award for the work we are doing to increase opportunities for women and girls in tennis.
Participation Programs Manager Nikita Sayle said, “We are really proud of the leadership pathways we are creating for women and girls and tennis. We are grateful for the support we have had from The NSW Government and the NSW Office of Sport though Her Sport Her Way and the ATP Cup Legacy Fund, as well as the support of Tennis Australia’s Females in Tennis Fund. We hope that we can continue to build on this momentum and deliver initiatives that improve opportunities for women and girls across all areas of our sport”.
Shivani Lakha was also awarded Young Achiever for her work in tennis as a coach and volunteer in Future Leaders, Youth Advisory Group and Sheroes, all while studying to become a pilot! Congratulations Shivani!
“I feel incredibly privileged and honored to have been selected to win this award. I am hoping from this point onwards I can inspire other women to get involved in tennis, especially in the Future Leaders program, Youth Advisory Group and Sheroes”, Shivani said.
The Awards are part of the NSW Government’s women in sport strategy, Her Sport Her Way which aims to increase participation opportunities and attract investment and recognition for women’s sport.
