Day 4 of the NSW Open is complete.
Today kicked off with a female Aussie battle on Centre Court, with Alana Parnaby (VIC) and Destanee Aiava (VIC) going head to head. In the end Aiava overpowered Parnaby, 6-4 6-3.
Lucky loser, Blake Mott (NSW), has secured his spot in the quarterfinals, after a strong victory over Ryan Seggerman (USA) 6-2, 63.
On the women’s side, the number 1 seed in the women’s draw, Sujeong Jang (KOR), was too strong for Talia Gibson (WA), taking her down 6-4, 6-2. Ivana Popovic (NSW) also had a tough match against Taylah Preston (WA) and went down 6-3 7-5.
Tennis NSW hosted their Player Development Coaches Workshop today. Guest panelists, Brent Larkham and Mark Draper discussed life as a High Performance Tour Coach, life on the road and what the current trends are at the highest level. Scott Draper followed with his “Know the level, be the Level” presentation, captivating the coaches and leaving them wanting more.
Tomorrow, number 1 seed Thanasi Kokkinakis (SA) is up against Philip Sekulic (QLD) on Centre Court. Rinky Hijikata (NSW) will conclude the matches on Centre Court against Chak Lam Coleman Wong (HKG).
Other notable Aussies playing tomorrow include, Gabriella da Silva-Fick, Destanee Aiava, Dane Sweeny and Jamie Fourlis to name a few.
