Singles quarterfinals have been completed on Day 6 at the NSW Open.
Hometown hero and seed number two, Rinky Hijikata (NSW) is enjoying playing at home and making the most of the court time, winning in another three setter against Jisang Nam 6-7, 7-5, 7-6. Marc Polmans had a tight match against Blake Mott (NSW), winning 6-3 in the third set. Marc will now play against the top seed, Thanasi Kokkinakis (SA) who over powered Rio Noguchi (JPN), 6-3, 7-6.
Australia has three female players competing in the semifinals. Astra Sharma (WA) fought hard today and has secured a spot in the semifinals after defeating Japanese player, Kyoka Okamura. Aussies, Destanee Aiava (VIC) and Maya Joint (AUS) will also join Sharma in the semifinals.
Aiava has a big day ahead of her tomorrow, as she will compete in the semifinals of singles against Joint and then compete for the NSW Open Doubles title with partner Madison Inglis (WA).The men’s doubles final will be an international affair with Ruben Gonzales (PHL) and Jisung Nam (KOR) up against Ryan Seggerman (USA) and Patrick Trhac (USA).
Play will commence at 11am tomorrow on all courts.
