Ahead of Pride Month taking place in June, Tennis Australia is giving clubs around the country the opportunity to express their interest in running a Serving Pride activation!
Activations will take place between June and September, with training, resources and funding provided.
What is the Serving Pride Initiative?
After another successful AO Club Pride Night initiative held during January, clubs are being given the opportunity to participate again between the months of June and September under the banner of Serving Pride.
These activations will align with Pride Month in June and gives clubs the opportunity to show their support of the LGBTQ+ community.
Why Pride Month?
LGBTQ+ Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, USA. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States and has now become a global event to commemorate the events that occurred as a result as well as to advocate for inclusion of people who identify as LGBTQ+ at all levels whether that be in the workforce and sport.
