As the sun set on a thrilling day of tennis at the 2024 Perpetual NSW Open, the stakes couldn’t have been higher. The semifinals delivered intense matches and unexpected results, setting the stage for an exciting finals day.

 

Men’s Singles Semifinals

In the men’s singles, top seed Rinky Hijikata from Australia continued his strong performance, defeating Japan’s Yuta Shimizu in a convincing match, 7-6(1), 6-3. Hijikata showcased his resilience, particularly in the tiebreak, where he dominated.

In the other semifinal, Thanasi Kokkinakis also advanced, overcoming fellow Aussie Tristan Schoolkate. Kokkinakis’s power and precision were on full display, and fans are eagerly anticipating what he will bring to the finals.

 

Women’s Singles Semifinals

The women’s singles saw a stunning upset as wildcard Emerson Jones knocked out the top seed, Talia Gibson, with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Jones’s determination and skill shone through, earning her a spot in the finals and the admiration of the crowd.

Taylah Preston continued her impressive run, defeating Hikaru Sato from Japan, ensuring an all-Australian final alongside Jones.

 

Men’s Doubles Final

In the men’s doubles final, the duo of Blake Ellis and Thomas Fancutt clinched victory against Blake Bayldon and Mars Hermans, with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-5(4). Their teamwork and tactical plays were pivotal in securing the title.

 

Women’s Doubles Final
