After 25 years of service, Dave Allen has retired from being a Tennis Australia official. Dave’s journey in tennis has been nothing short of extraordinary, marked by his dedication, expertise, and a profound love for the game.

Dave’s memorable career began at the 2000 Sydney Olympics where he joined the team as a Court Services Supervisor. He swiftly became an integral part of the officiating community, gaining experience in various positions, including volunteer work at the Medibank/Apia International for two decades and serving as a Drug Testing Escort at the 2001 Masters Cup.

Throughout his journey, Dave has had heavy involvement in numerous significant events, including the South Australian Junior Championships, Traralgon ITF Level 1, Australian Seniors Teams Event and many more. He has also been a pivotal figure in New South Wales as a Level 1 Referee, working on all levels of events from grassroots at Regional JDS events all the way through to Performance Open Money Tournaments.

In recognition of his contributions, Dave received the Referee of the Year award by Tennis NSW in 2007 and 2008. He has also been instrumental in training and mentoring the next generation of officials, a role he intends to continue even after his retirement.

Susan Harris, Tournaments & Operations Manager, spoke fondly of Dave’s career, stating, “Dave has such a passion for teaching players. His ability to engage with parents and players all the way from JDS through to higher-level events shows the level of rapport that he has built over his many years of officiating. Dave has made the officiating space a more positive one and will be greatly missed amongst the tennis community.”

While stepping down from official duties, Dave will continue to contribute to tennis as a coach, trainer, mentor, and assessor.

A heartfelt thank you to Dave for all of your commitment, passion and work in the officiating space and congratulations on your incredible career.
