DTC Sports secured there second consecutive win of the Metro League with a convincing 14 Rubbers to 4 win over LifeTime Gardens in Round 2 action.
Gardens had its chances in the doubles with Daniel Parker and Damien Mamolo taking the first set against DTC Sports’ Ryan Palfrey and Nicholas Munro 6-4. However it was Palfrey and Munro who took the next two sets in tiebreakers 7-6 7-6. Dave Bridges and Ian Redmond also came close for Gardens, but could not overcome Kacy Brennan and Hamish Martin who eventually won in a match tiebreak 5-7 6-4 6-7.
Kaelan Bates (DTC) held off a late charge from Dave Bridges (Gardens) to win 6-1 6-2, while fellow NTIS athlete Ben Lye (DTC) clinched a close 6-4 6-4 win over Des McLellan (Gardens). Lye teamed with Madeleine Murray for a 6-4 6-0 win over Darren Jakobson and Lee Watkins in the doubles.
Murray remains the only unbeaten player after two rounds when she defeated Jakobson in the singles 3-6 6-0 7-6(8); Murray now sits comfortably on top of the ‘Player of the Year’ leader board, with 4 Rubbers, 8 Sets and 57 Games above fellow DTC Sports compatriots Sam Giess 3 Rubbers, 7 Sets, 49 Games and Kacy Brennan 3 Rubbers, 6 Sets and 51 Games.
After Round 2 DTC Sports remain on top of the Premiership Table with a 32 point lead over LifeTime Gardens.
