Tennis Gove was named Most Outstanding Tennis Community at the Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards at Crown Palladium in Melbourne.

President of Tennis Gove Paul Mery and Vice President Michael Higgins, had the honour of accepting the Award from Craig Tiley, Director of Tennis.

“This award is recognition for our good work and how good it is to take tennis to the community and to the kids that are there.” expressed Mery.

“At Tennis Gove, we are trying to build on what Tennis Australia is trying to bring the next generation of community, especially through kids.”

The other finalists in this category were Barwon Region (Vic) and the Bendigo Tennis Association (Vic).

When asked what made their club standout from the other finalists Mery said:
“Tennis Gove has a variety of programs for the community to enjoy including MLC Tennis Hot Shots for the kids, plus we have a full range of junior and adult tennis on offer.
We also try and establish an understanding and a love of tennis in aboriginal communities throughout the North-East Arnhem Land region.” Mery added 

Tennis Gove also received $25,000 as the Most Outstanding Tennis Community to support the programming, promotion and development of the sport in the Gove Community.
