With the Davis Cup played in Brisbane over the Easter weekend and a decisive victory ensuring Australia a place in the World Group play-off in September, it is of interest to understand the role played by the Australian Davis Cup Tennis Foundation.
When formed in 1971 by a group of enthusiastic tennis supporters the objectives of the Foundation were quite specific and were based on the aim of supporting the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia [Tennis Australia] to promote, develop, assist, and encourage tennis players for the purpose of providing Davis Cup tennis players to represent Australia in this unique form of international competition.
These objectives have not changed and the members continue their support both financially and through attendance at the Davis Cup matches both in Australia and overseas.
As President of the Australian Davis Cup Foundation, Neale Fraser, Wimbledon Champion and former Davis Cup player and captain, epitomizes the spirit of the Davis Cup and invites members of our tennis community to support the Davis Cup team stating;
“If you are passionate about tennis and looking to support Australia’s tennis future then you are invited to join the Australian Davis Cup Tennis Foundation where you will assist Tennis Australia with its Player Development and Talent Identification programs. Foundation members have the opportunity to obtain priority ticketing and join Davis Cup touring parties to worldwide venues whilst providing valuable support to our Davis Cup team.”
Membership of the Foundation is $70 per annum and to obtain further particulars about the benefits of membership of the Foundation visit the website or download a membership application form.
