DTC Sports 2 have a two point lead heading into the final round of the People’s Choice Metro League over Gardens Tennis.

People’s Choice Metro League

Round 5 saw DTC Sports 2 have a convincing 7 Rubbers to 2 win over Tennis Palmerston.
Nicholas Munro (DTC2) stamped his authority early; with a 6-0 6-1 win over Des McLellan (TP). Rhys Janes (TP) also had a convincing win, 6-2 6-0 over Matt Giess. Janes and McLellan secured Palmerston’s only other win, 6-4 3-6 10-7 over Munro and Kacy Brennan.
Brennan backed up his close doubles win with an even close singles win over Ben Lye 7-5 6-7 11-9. Other winners for DTC Sports included Dean Moliari, Sam Giess and Tenille Waters.

People’s Choice Reserve League

DTC Sports secured all six Rubbers against Tennis Palmerston. DTC Sports didn’t have it all their own way with Rebecca Rayner pushing Oscar Ferdinands to a match tie-break, going down 4-6 6-4 5-10. Riley Wauchope (TP) also extended Peter Politis (DTC2) to a match tie-break, going down 2-6 6-4 2-10.

Gardens Tennis and DTC Sports 1 had a closer battle, with DTC Sports 1 taking the win 5 Rubbers to 4.
Ryan Palfrey and Michael Shepheard got the team of to a great start, claiming a 6-2 5-7 10-2 win over James Hunter and Frank Wallner. Palfrey and Shepheard also secured singles win over Hunter and Scott Boller respectively. Gardens Tennis stalwarts, Ian Redmond and Dave Bridges secured a 6-2 5-7 11-9 win over Jamie Stefanato and Tristan King. Redmond and Bridges were also extended to the match tie-break in the singles. Redmond advancing past Emily Moo 3-6 6-4 10-1, while Bridges went down to King 6-3 4-6 8-10.

People’s Choice Reserve League

DTC Sports 1 almost made a clean sweep as well, claiming 5 of the 6 Rubbers on offer.
Liam Jong saved Gardens Tennis with a 6-2 6-4 win over Katie Riggall. Jong and Serena Adams tried their best in the doubles but were eventually taken down by Riggall and Rosie Henderson 6-4 6-0. Other winners for DTC Sports 1 included; Lauren Riggall and Liam Franklin.

Major changes in the People’s Choice Metro League Player of the Year with Andrew Hawke (GT) undefeated on top of the ladder with 8 Rubbers, 16 Sets and 97 Games. Nicholas Munro (DTC2), Scott Boller (GT), Rhys Janes (TP) and Ryan Palfrey (DTC1) rounding out the Top 5.
