Nominations for the 2012 Newcombe Medal, Australian Tennis Awards are now open.
The Newcombe Medal is awarded to Australia’s most outstanding elite tennis player, while the Australian Tennis Awards honour the achievements of nominated members of the tennis community.
Nominees for the Newcombe Medal are selected by an esteemed panel of Australian champions and highly respected individuals in the tennis community.
The Gove Peninsula Tennis Club has been successful in winning two awards in the past two years;
2010 – Most Outstanding Tennis Club
2011 – Most Outstanding Tennis Community
Members of the public are invited to nominate people they believe have made a significant contribution to the sport. The award categories are:
- Coaching Excellence – High Performance
- Coaching Excellence – Club
- Coaching Excellence – MLC Tennis Hot Shots
- Junior Athlete of the Year
- Most Outstanding Athlete with a Disability
- Most Outstanding Tennis Community
- Volunteer Achievement Award
- Most Outstanding 35+ Senior
- Excellence in Officiating
- Most Outstanding Club
- Most Outstanding Tournament
- Most Outstanding School
The nomination period ends 19 October 2012.
