Mark Pead and Darrell Halim (GT2) accounted for the AWOF pairing of Des McLellan and Maddy Murray in the #1 doubles 6-2 6-2. McLellan fought back in the #1 singles extending Halim to the match tie-breaker, however it was Halim who lasted the distance, winning 7-6 2-6 10-5.

Longest match of the round goes to the #1 doubles between Ben Scott and Steve Lewis-Driver (GT1) and Nicholas Munro and Ben Proctor (TP2). Tennis Palmerston 2 snuck away with the first set in a tie-break before Gardens Tennis 1 came back in the second 6-3. It was all down to the match tie-break and who could hold their nerve, in the end it was Munro and Proctor who came away with the good and the match 7-6 3-6 10-2.
After Round 5 Gardens Tennis 1 has a slight lead over Gardens Tennis 2 on the People’s Choice Metro League ladder with 48 points to 44 points.
Michael Shepheard (GT1) has taken the lead in the People’s Choice Metro League Player of the Year over Daniel Parker and David Bridges who are still within striking range of the top spot.
