Friday night’s Round 2 action of the Junior Tennis League saw some close FAST4 action between all players with 12 of the sets going to the crucial 3rd rule: Tie-breaker at 3 games all.
After finishing last week on top of the ladder the Buffalo’s dominated early in the night taking three of the four singles matches with wins to Callum Saunders, Rosie Henderson and Stephanie Rayner. The Barra’s #1 Liam Franklin saved the whitewash, securing there only win for the evening with a tightly fought 4-3 4-3 win over Buffalo’s #1 Oscar Ferdinands.
The Barra’s had the opportunity to swim their way back into contention in the doubles rubbers when they took the first set in three of the four matches. However they couldn’t maintain the momentum losing the second sets and drawing the doubles rubbers.
The Croc’s came up against a determined Frillie’s team, looking to make up for last week’s disappointing loss. Coen Hutt and Serena Adams got the Frillie’s off to a great start securing two of the singles rubbers, while their #1 Kyle O’Donoghue-Ellis could only manage a draw against Croc’s #1 Kenneth Prete.
The Croc’s started to claw their way back in the doubles when Prete teamed with Eilis Kruger to take the number 1 mixed Doubles 4-2 4-2 over O’Donoghue-Ellis and Jaimee Murphy. However it was the Frillie’s night, when they drew the final two doubles securing them the win.
SHOT OF THE ROUND or should I say SHOTS of the round goes to Kenneth Prete (Croc’s) for his superb touch volleys around the net in both of his doubles matches.
