Today was the official launch of the new courts in Alice Springs. This 10 court venue now has 8 synthetic grass courts, and 2 hardcourts.
The introduction of synthetic grass at the club means that it’s unique amoungst clubs in the NT, all other courts in the NT are hardcourts. Synthetic grass is softer underfoot and many find it easier on the joints, so it is an appealing surface to play on.
Additionally, having 2 surface types at the club gives Coach Orin Harrison and the players at Tennis Alice Springs a diversity of surfaces to train on.
Tennis NT CEO Tania Tandora spoke at the launch event, saying “this court upgrade investment is an investment in the Alice Springs community, and the NT tennis community. It’s also supporting the local economy through the tennis coaching business that operates from this club. Now, when people see these courts they will be attracted to play on them because the facility looks as welcoming as the people are”.
With thanks to all organisations who worked together to collaborate with expertise and to provide the funding which made this upgrade possible.
Thank you to all of the organisations who contributed.
