Five Central Region clubs have been affected by the recent Queensland floods. Theodore was the worst affected with the entire complex under water for almost three weeks. The damage bill will be approx $200,000. The Sunrise “Operation Bounceback” is helping out with the clubhouse and Tennis Queensland are working with Tennis Australia and the Queensland Government to repairs the tennis courts. The Bundaberg & District Junior Tennis Association has also sustained considerable damage to both the clubhouse and courts with the centre going under water twice in the floods. The damage bill will also be close to $200,000. Rosendale is another club affected by floodwaters with considerable damage to both courts. The cost somewhere around $50,000.   Bundaberg & District Tennis Association had considerable damage to the playing surfaces of their claycourts with much of the surface being washed away. Tannum Sands Tennis Association is in the process of building four new courts and unfortunately the rain has particially destroyed the courts bases the club has already built. Much of the work with have to be re-done at considerable cost to the club. Tennis Queensland has appointed Ken Hick to Project Manage the Flood/Cyclone damaged centres throughout the state and he will be doing everything possible to restore all centres.
