A message from Tennis Queensland’s Tournament Manager Matt Richards…
To be held from April 16-21, the Brisbane Open Age coincides with the Clay Court Nationals in Ipswich, and provides a fantastic opportunity for all travelling players to participate in an extra tournament during their stay in Queensland.
The 12/U and 16/U events will be played on April 16-18 and the 8/U (Orange Ball), 10/U (Green Ball) and 14/U events will be held from April 19-21.
The tournament will be held at the Queensland Tennis Centre and Griffith University (Mt Gravatt). It is a Silver level Optus Junior Tour event for 12/U, 14/U and 16/U. Players are entitled to enter in four events over the six days.
You can play singles and doubles on the first three days of the event (12/U or 16/U), and singles and doubles on the second three days of the event (8/U, 10/U or 14/U).
The format for the Brisbane Open Age will be a continuous feed-in draw. Players who lose in the round of 16 in main draw will still feed into the consolation. We will also hold playoffs for 3-4 and 5-8 positions.
Players who lose in the first two rounds of consolation will have the opportunity to sign in for a second consolation. The doubles will also include a sign-on consolation. This format means that all players who play singles and doubles will be guaranteed a minimum of 5 matches. Players will be guaranteed a minimum of 10 matches if they play both sections of the event.
Entries are currently available online for the event at tournaments.tennis.com.au .
If you prefer to enter via post you can fill out the 2011 Brisbane Open Age Entry Form and return it in the post.
