Tennis Queensland’s mascot Terry the Tennis Ball, will debut in Triple M’s Mascot Race tomorrow, Saturday May 21,  at the Kirks Doomben Race Day.

The race will see all of Brisbane’s mascots competing in a staggered 100m sprint (dependant on mascot head size/exposed footwear/arms/etc) at Doomben Racing Track with the winner receiving $5000 for a charity of their choice.

So far it looks promising….. Terry had a practice run yesterday and although there are a few physical barriers, he feels pretty positive about race day tomorrow.

“I do have a giant head, tiny arms and enormous feet so there’s a fair amount of wind resistance when I run. Although, I am confident that with a staggered start I have much better odds against some of the other competitors,” Terry said.

“I am just so excited to represent Tennis Queensland and hopefully take out $5000 for the Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund. I worked with Starlight Girl at the Brisbane International so it’ll also be great to catch up with her and the other mascots.”

Race Gates open at 10:30am with the Triple M Mascot Race set to run between race 4 and 5 (approximately 1pm). Tickets start from $15.00.

For all those tennis fans out there, come and help cheer on Terry the Tennis Ball to victory!! You can check out Terry’s competition here!
