Three Aussies- two of them Queenslanders Jason Kubler and Ashleigh Barty, remain in the mix as we approach the business end of the Wimbledon Junior Championships.
Jason Kubler and Luke Saville both won their quarterfinal matches on Thursday at the All England Club to remain on course for an all-Aussie showdown in Saturday’s final.
Kubler, the young Queenslander from Mango Hill, cruised through to the final four with a 6-3 6-1 win over Belgium’s Julien Cagnina while Saville came from a set down to defeat Joris de Loore 6-7(1) 6-2 6-2.
In the girls’ singles, fellow Queenslander Ashleigh Barty came from behind in the final set to overhaul highly fancied American Madison Keys 6-3 6-7(5) 6-4 in her third round match.
Barty was behind 2-4 in the third set before reeling off four consecutive games to seal a spot in the quarterfinals.
