Bernard Tomic has won the first Davis Cup rubber for Australia!
The young Queenslander took Australia to a 1-0 lead against Switzerland after defeating world No.19 Stanislas Wawrinka 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
With 82% of his first serves in, Tomic delivered a steller performance in front of an elated Australian crowd, winning the match in 151 minutes.
Tomic was happy with how he performed against the former world No. 9.
“It was a very difficult match because he [Wawrinka] is a great player. I am just glad to win the first rubber.
“It’s just such a huge thing and a great honour to play in the Davis Cup. ”
