The QLD Junior Development Series finished up last week at the Rockhampton Regional Tennis Centre.

The Central Region was once again victorious, taking home winners across all age groups, and winning both the Ken Hick/Murray Whitbread Trophy & the Xstrata Cup.

Tournament organiser Ken Hick felt the tournament promoted great competition and camaraderie.

“The Junior Development Series (JDS) is a great way to bring together kids from all across the state and compete in a team environment- which is something quite rare in an individual sport such as tennis,” said Hick.

Ken was also very happy with his team’s victory.

“The team worked really well together and we were strong across the board,” Hick said.

“We (Central Queensland players) won six of the eight trophies.”
