The “Brisbane International Trophy Tour” will be visiting Queensland’s far north region from November 7.
This state wide interactive tennis tour allows regional communities to be involved in Queensland’s biggest event, the Brisbane International.
Brisbane International Tournament Director and Tennis Queensland CEO Cameron Pearson, is looking forward to sending the trophies on a tour around our sunshine state.
“The Brisbane International Trophy Tour offers communities throughout Queensland an opportunity to be part of the Brisbane International action,“ said Pearson.
“Tennis enthusiasts, schools and clubs will all get a chance to see the same trophies which past champions such as Kim Cljisters, Andy Roddick and current Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova have lifted.
“The Brisbane International has established itself second only to the Australian Open in three years of operation, with international stars such as Novak Djokovic, Sam Stosur and Justine Henin having all previously played.
“The outstanding success of the event can also be measured by the recent announcement of Brisbane International’s WTA upgrade status and this year’s first player signing, triple Grand Slam champion, Maria Sharapova.”
The Brisbane International Trophy Tour will travel through the far north region from next Monday (November 7) to Friday (November 11).
Each day, all locals are invited to attend an interactive festival which will be held in the afternoon from 4-6pm, at the following hosting clubs:
- Port Douglas Tennis Club, Monday (7th )
- Innisfail & District Tennis Association, Tuesday (8th)
- Cairns International Tennis Centre, Wednesday (9th)
- Atherton Tennis Club, Thursday (10th)
- Gordonvale & District Tennis Association, Friday (11th)
At these clubs, tennis enthusiasts will have the opportunity to get a photo with the Brisbane International trophies, enjoy a free BBQ, receive prizes and participate in fun tennis activities including the MLC Tennis Hot Shots program.
