The winners of the 2011 Optus 14s Australian Team Championships have been decided after play was delayed by wet weather yesterday, and our Queensland girls put up an impressive battle against WA

In the boys’ event, New Zealand represented by Kyle Butters, William Matheson and Connor Heap defeated Jake Delaney (Sydney, NSW), William Berrigan (Blakehurst, NSW) and Alexander Furniss (West Pennant Hills, NSW) from New South Wales to win the Sproule Stephens Trophy.

The match was decided in the doubles when New Zealand pair Butters and Matheson overcame Delaney and Furniss 6-4 6-1 to win the title.

In the girls’ competition, Western Australia’s Anja Dokic (Tuart Hill, WA), Ivana Vojinovic (Booragoon, WA) and Maddison Inglis (Maida Vale, WA) defeated defending champions Queensland to take home the Mary Hawton Trophy.
