The Queensland Wheelchair Tennis Open was a fantastic start to the new 2012 Australian Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
In the women’s singles championships, it was a final battle between No.1 seed Sabine Ellerbrock from Germany and Australian favourite No.2 ranked Daniela di Toro. The close battle saw Ellebrock take out the title 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(5).
For the men’s draw, an unseeded Martin Legner from Austria fought his way through the draw, defeating Australian hopeful Ben Weeks along the way to reach the final against Michael Jeremiasz from France.
The Frenchman, and tournament No.3 seed defeated Legner for the 15th successive time, 6-1, 6-2.
