Attracting some of our country’s finest players, the Australian Pro Tour is a series of professional tennis events that offer players more than AUD$1.2 million in prize money and ATP World Tour and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour ranking points.

And here’s the latest…

2012 Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba International – A wrap up from Tournament Director, Matt Richards

Monday, Feb 20

Erik Chvojka (CAN) is the inaugural Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba International singles champion. Chvojka won an enthralling contest against Ze Zhang (CHN) 6-2 1-6 7-6 (4) in two and a half hours. The title is Chvojka’s sixth on the ITF Men’s Futures circuit and his second on the Australian Pro Tour. Chvojka saved a match point at 5-6 in the third set before winning a tense tiebreak.

A fantastic crowd was on hand to support the inaugural finals day in Toowoomba. In a highlight for the event the new trophies were delivered by the RACQ Careflight helicopter. Following the final Erik Chvojka joined the RACQ Careflight staff for a flight around the city of Toowoomba. It was certainly a fitting end to the week for Chvojka who continued his love affair of playing in Australia. Both Chvojka and Zhang will now move on to the next Australian Pro Tour event in Mildura.

Thanks must go to the sponsors and supporters of the event who ensured a fantastic week for all involved. Congratulations to Hutchinson Builders, Toowoomba Regional Council, Orchy, the City Golf Club, Toowoomba Tennis Association and RACQ Careflight who are all to be commended for their fantastic support of tennis. The city of Toowoomba is already looking forward to hosting the Australian Pro Tour again in 2013.

If the Pro Tour is heading to your region come and be part of the action… and cheer on our Queenslanders!
