Queensland’s Olivia Tjandramulia won the Optus 14s National Grasscourt Championships yesterday at the Mildura Lawn Tennis Club in Victoria.
The No.2 seed from Rockhampton defeated No.3 seed Chloe Hule (South Australia). Tjandramulia gained momentum after an well fought close first set, with the final score, 7-6(2) 6-2.
In her previous round, Olivia had posted a comfortable win over sixth seed Maddison Inglis (Maida Vale, WA) 6-0 6-1 en route to her championship win.
This was the second year the 2012 Optus 12s and 14s National Grasscourt Championships took place alongside the Mildura Grand International, a prominent event on the Australian Pro Tour calendar, which saw fellow Queenslander Ashleigh Barty take home the championship title. This was the second consecutive Pro Tour title for Barty.
The next big event on the Optus Junior Tour calendar is the 2012 Optus 12s, 14s and 16s National Claycourt Championships taking place in Ipswich, Queensland from 28 March.

Optus Junior Tour is an umbrella tour that provides a clear competitive pathway for aspiring tennis players. The Optus Junior Tour tournaments offer Australian Ranking points across five levels – Platinum (also known as the Optus National Junior Championships), Gold, Silver, Bronze and White.
These tournaments offer points across the 12/u, 14/u and 16/u age groups, with select tournaments also offering points in the 18/u age group. In total, 211 tournaments across Australia will make up the Optus Junior Tour in 2012, giving all juniors the opportunity to obtain an Australian Ranking.
