The Charters Towers Gold Pan Junior Tennis Teams Carnival was held on the weekend of March 17^th and 18^th.  Unfortunately, the weather leading up to the event did not look good for tennis or travelling, so teams from Mackay and Ingham were forced to pull out.   For the remaining 53 juniors – made up of local Charters Towers players, as well as five teams that travelled from Townsville – play was underway around midday on Saturday.  Despite a couple of rain interruptions, the weekend was hailed a success.  Winners received a medallion each, as well as gold pans that were awarded to the winning teams.
