Central Queenslands Olivia Tjandramulia has been having astonishing results over the past couple of months. It has been decades since a Central Queensland player has won a national competition, but Olivia broke that drought with a win over Chole Hume, 7-6(2), 6-2 at the under 14s nationals in Mildura. She then went on to play the under 16s National Event at Ipswich on the 2nd of April, 2012. Having a fantastic run to the final where she had great wins over the 8th, 4th and 2nd seeds before suffering a hard fought final loss to the number 1 seed, Isabelle Wallace, 6-2, 6-4. “I played up an age group to get a taste of the higher level of competition,” Olivia stated. Olivia exited the competition with an Australian ranking of 112. Olivia is heading to the Bundaberg Open over the May Day long weekend, before playing the ITF tournaments in June.
