The Shaw Park Sharks women’s team have confirmed their status as the team to beat in the 2012 Asia Pacific Tennis League
Queensland conference.
The Sharks completed a

Cabrera didn’t disappoint Sharks
fans with a 4-3 4-0 victory over
fellow teenager Natalie Rogers
(Mackay). The Sharks lead the competition on 23 points.
The Beenleigh Blaze women moved into second position with a
hard fought win over the Tennis Brisbane Tornadoes.
Heading into the doubles rubbers with matches locked at 2 all,
the Blaze won both matches in straight sets to seal a 4-2 victory.
They trail the Sharks by 3 points sitting currently on 20 points.
The Blaze have a crucial match tonight against the third
placed Toowoomba Tigers. The Tigers moved into third position
following a 4-2 victory over the Tennis Brisbane Chargers.
The Tennis Brisbane Chargers men bounced back from their defeat
on Tuesday night to score a decisive 5-1 victory over the
Toowoomba Tigers. In the match of the night, Chargers leader
Michael Look saved three match points to defeat Tigers
spearhead David Hodge. The Chargers lead the competition on
18 points heading into their crucial match tonight against home
team the Shaw Park Sharks.
The Sharks moved into second position in the men’s competition
with a tight win over the Sunshine Coast Breakers.
The Sharks and Breakers were locked at 3 matches
all following the completion of play, however the Sharks won
a count back on sets. The Sharks now face the prospect of
knocking off the competition leaders at home tonight.
The Tennis Brisbane Tornadoes moved into equal third with a
4-2 victory over the Beenleigh Blaze men’s team.
The star of the night for the Tornadoes was
26 year old Kaden Hensel. Hensel won both of his matches in
straight sets including a crucial doubles victory with
Scott Puodziunas against Blaze team-mates
Ben Mathias and Mark Draper. The Blaze will now battle with
the Toowoomba Tigers who are desperate for the first win
in the competition.
