The Australian Open Hot Shots Tournament in Kawana over the weekend was a huge success with close to 50 children braving the humidity and hitting the courts! With play commencing at 8:00am the Green Ball Hot Shots were the first to get on. There were some great rallies and some tight matches as players worked their way through the round robin. Following on from them the Orange Ball Hot Shots began, and continuing on from the high standard seen in the green ball there were a number of great matches! Last but not least the Red Ball Hot Shots players made their way onto the court. Perhaps with the toughest conditions of the day with the humidity increasing and the sun creeping through, a number of great matches were played.

Following on from the round robin, the Green and Orange ball players made their way back on court to commence a second leg of tough matches. After some fiercely contested matches, some winners were found!

8/U Red Ball: Winner: Jake Marlow. Runner Up: Charlie Tramachi

10/U Orange Ball: Winner Blake Hickey, Runner-up: Theo Corington

12/U Green Ball: Winner Jamie Kenny, Runner-up: Luke Bindon

A huge thanks goes out to Clint Fyfe who organised and ran the tournament. We would also like to thank Ellerfield Financial Planning for sponsoring the event; and Kawana coaches/players Jaimee Gilbertson, Luke Harvey, Bronwyn Fuller, Daniel Plant, Scott Dawson and Somer Dalla-Bona, as well as Neil Heyne (Palmwoods TC), Jacob Dorey (Caloundra TC) and Trent Drew (Mooloolaba TC) for helping on the day.

A special thank you goes out to all the parents who came along on the day. The event wouldn’t have been possible without them. There was a great family presence at the tournament and this assisted in creating a positive, encouraging environment for all the players involved.
