Queenslander John-Patrick Smith has captured the ITF Futures title in Winnipeg, Canada over the weekend.
The 24-year-old, currently ranked No.304, defeated seventh seed Ante Pavic of Croatia in the final, 3-6 6-4 6-3.
Smith, the second seed in Winnipeg, won his first title since hoisting the trophy at the Winnetka Challenger in the United States in July 2012.
He will next head to New York for the US Open, where he will team with compatriot Paul Hanley in the men’s doubles event.
Smith is also set to return home later this year to play in the Asia Pacific Tennis League – Queensland Conference as a member of the Shaw Park Sharks. The conference will also feature players currently on international tour including James Duckworth and Jason Kubler and will see John Millman return from injury and Pat Rafter make a special appearance playing at the Sunshine Coast event.
