The superstar Hot Shots players of the Gold Coast were out in force yesterday from the All Champs Tennis Academy. The sixteen lucky kids, with their purposely designed Brisbane International & Club shirts took to Pat Rafter Arena twice for MLC Tennis Hot Shots (MLCTHS) demonstrations.
Led by coach Michael Parker, the very well behaved kids waited patiently for the long match between Australian Marinko Matosevic (AUS) who defeated Julien Benneteau (FRA) 5-7 6-4 7-6(4) to finish before taking to Centre Court.
Running out onto court waving to the cheering crown, the players showed their best rallying and footwork. As the group left the court, parents and friends could be heard yelling encouragement from the stands which was a great thrill for the kids.
The group was lucky enough to get another chance on Centre Court again after the Casey Dellacqua (AUS) & Voskoboeva (KAZ) match in which Casey reinged supreme winning 3-6 6-2 6-3. The kids looked much more relaxed as they again showed their skills to the crowd.
MLC Tennis Hot Shots is just for kids. Smaller courts, lighter racquets and low compression balls that don’t bounce too high make learning tennis fun and easy for primary school-aged children. This means that kids are able to start rallying and having fun right from their first lesson!
There are three stages – Red, Orange and Green – that help to develop children’s skills and confidence. Children are taught by qualified Tennis Australia coaches and progress at their pace, moving on to the next stage when they are ready.
