20 February 2014 | Tennis Queensland
Congratulations to all who participated in our first Medibank Junior Development tournament, which was held at Queens Park Tennis Centre on the 9th and 16th of February. With 171 entries in totally this year looks to be a great year for our junior development tournaments on the Gold Coast.
Due to increased numbers for the MJDS the first weekend we used Queens Park, Australia Tennis Academy (Hope Island), St Hilda’s – Pure Tennis Academy and The Southport State School.
The Medibank Junior Development Series is an important program in the player development pathway on the Gold Coast. It allows for young players to compete and develop their skills before entering into the next stage of development.
As Community Tennis Officer, the standard of tennis that the Gold Coast kids are playing is truly exciting. Not only are there highly competitive matches on court, but there is also a great friendly atmosphere off the court as well.
Huge congratulations and thank you to the team at Queens Park Tennis Centre for as always providing a happy and welcoming environment for the tournament. The next Medibank Junior Development Series Event will be held at Miami Tennis Club on the 16th and 23rd of March, with entries now open.
For online entries and the JDS points race and all information regarding the JDS please go to the Gold Coast regional Assembly website at www.tennis.com.au/goldcoast
