Tennis is a sport that we all love and a game that can bring a lot of joy and happiness to people from three years to a hundred years of age. Through the modified equipment of the ANZ Hot Shots program the sport can be adapted for anyone, anywhere you go.

Tennis Queensland Community Tennis Officer, Ellie Ryan has been in contact with Brisbane Royal Children’s Hospital to find a way to bring the sport we love, and happiness it provides us, to people who are having a tough time. After several meetings with the company, and overcoming challenges involved with being the first sport to come to them for FREE, the BRCH opened their doors to tennis and allowed us to deliver ANZ Tennis Hot Shots within their walls.

On Monday 19 May 2014, local Tournament Director, Blake Taylor and young Gold Coast Medibank Junior Development Series player Samantha Cameron joined Ellie in the hospital for a 2-hour tennis for kids session.

On the day, ANZ Tennis Hot Shots equipment was set up at the very front entrance of the hospital. All the children coming in and out jumped in and had a chance to play some tennis. Over 150 children had the opportunity to get involved, as well as the BRCH school students and hospital staff.

The event was extremely successful with the patients of the hospital having an absolute ball.

The activation was one of the most rewarding and special activations that we have been a part of and the Gold Coast region are looking forward to keeping a great relationship with the hospital to have tennis involved in more events in the future.
